Emergency first aid at work

Who is it for?
This one-day course is ideal for those working in low-hazard environments, such as a shop or office. It is ideal for organisations whose first aid needs assessment has identified a requirement for someone to hold a current emergency first aid at work qualification.
What is covered?
The emergency first aid at work course gives learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace, including helping someone who is:
- unresponsive and not breathing – including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- unresponsive and breathing
- having a seizure
- choking
- bleeding heavily
- burnt (including a range of different burns e.g. electrical).
The course also includes information on:
- assessing a casualty
- monitoring a casualty
- where to get help
- electrical incidents
- accident recording and reporting
- the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH).

Who is it for?
This first aid at work course includes training on specific injuries and illnesses that may have been identified in your first aid needs assessment. It is ideal for organisations whose needs assessment has identified a requirement for additional first aid training, such as having employees with a disability or a medical condition.
What is covered?
In addition to the skills learned in the Emergency First Aid at Work course, our First Aid at Work course includes skills to help recognise and treat a wider range of injuries and medical conditions, including helping someone who:
- feels faint
- has been poisoned
- has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
- has an injury to a bone, muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
- is having a heart attack (including the administration of aspirin)
- is having an angina attack
- is having a stroke
- is having a diabetic emergency
- is having a severe allergic reaction
- is having an asthma attack
- has a head injury.

Who is it for?
If you want to refresh and update the skills you've previously learned on a First Aid at Work course, the First Aid at Work Requalification course is ideal for you in order to renew your first aid at work certificate.
What is covered?
This requalification course covers the steps to take for a variety of injuries and medical conditions, including someone who:
- feels faint

Who is it for?
Our Annual Skills Update course is perfect for those who wish to update their existing first aid at work skills and confidence. This course is available in both online and face-to-face learning formats.
What is covered?
The First Aid Annual Skills Update course is not certified but is designed to keep your existing first aid at work or emergency first aid at work skills refreshed. You will receive a certificate as a record of learning when you complete the online course.
The course revisits various topics, including how to help someone who is:
- unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- unresponsive and breathing
- choking
- bleeding heavily
- in shock
- having a seizure
First aid for appointed persons

Who is it for?
The First Aid for Appointed Persons course is suitable for organisations where Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines indicate that a first aider is not necessary, but basic first aid training may provide people with the confidence to act if faced with a first aid emergency.
The course is designed for organisations who:
- are in a low hazard environment (e.g. small shops or office) and have fewer than 25 employees, or
- are in a high hazard environment (e.g. construction or warehousing) and have fewer than 5 employees, and/or
- have completed a risk assessment which indicates that a first aider is not necessary.
What is covered?
- assess a casualty
- monitor a casualty
- know where to get help
- complete an accident record
- help someone who is unresponsive and breathing
- help someone who is unresponsive and not breathing
- help someone who is having a seizure.
Learn how to use a defibrillator

Who is it for?
This course is ideal for learners who may not have a first aid certificate. It provides assessed training on how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).
What is covered?
This course provides training on:
- how to help somebody who is unresponsive and breathing
- how to help somebody who is unresponsive and not breathing (including the use of an AED)
- the heart and basic heart rhythms
- the chain of survival
- AED safety considerations, maintenance and after use.
If there's an AED available at your workplace, this course is a great way to increase the number of people who are confident and willing to use this vital piece of equipment in an emergency. We also have a variety of AED models to rent or buy.
Paediatric first aid

Who is it for?
The Paediatric First Aid course is designed for people who look after babies and children in any setting, including nursery workers, childminders, nannies and au pairs. You may be required to hold a paediatric first aid certificate if you work with children.*
* If you are a newly qualified entrant into an Early Years setting you may prefer to attend our one day emergency paediatric first aid course.What is covered?
The Paediatric First Aid course helps you learn first aid skills for babies and children to ensure you are able to respond to a range of illnesses and accidents that you could come across in your setting, including how to help a baby or child who:
- is unresponsive and breathing
- is unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- is choking
- is bleeding
- is burnt or has a scald
- has an object in their eye, ear or nose
- has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
- has sickness or a fever.
This course also covers what to do if baby and child is having a medical emergency, including:
- meningitis
- diabetic emergency
- seizures
- asthma attack
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock)
- an injury to bone, muscle or joint (including spinal injuries)
- a head injury
- swallowing something harmful.
Blended paediatric first aid

Who is it for?
This course is suitable for people who need a paediatric first aid certificate but also need training that is flexible and can fit around other commitments. The blended paediatric first aid course includes one day of online training and one day of face-to-face training with one of our trainers
What is covered?
This course covers how to help a baby or child who:
- is unresponsive and breathing
- is unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- is choking
- is bleeding
- is burnt or scald
- has an object in their eye, ear or nose
